Glances

                     Glances

He sits staring into space
As though off into another dimension
Oblivious to the lovely eyes
Casting adoring glances
His way, hoping for his attention.

She wonders what he thinks about
And dreams of when he'll turn and see
How worthy of his thoughts is she.
There! He turns about and glances
Waving in her direction.

She smiles; waves in return and waits,
Only to have him pass her by,
To take the hand of the girl nearby.
The lovely eyes watch them stroll away
With never even a moment's glance.

Have you by any chance,
Ever sent the unnoticed glance
Of unrequited admiration?
Does it's memory burn in your mind,
And bring a smile at its recall?

I really enjoyed this. I think all of us have experienced those unrequited feelings before.
