In Springfield, Ohio

Hey, Y'all,
Well, here we are in Springfield, Ohio, visiting with Imazo's sister, Lois, who had a heart attack a few days ago, and is in the hospital. We arrived in Enon (a very small village southwest of Springfield) about 3;30 p.m. after leaving Knoxville about 7:30 a.m. We stopped at a small restaurant that has been in Enon for many years, called The Carriage House.

We were very pleased to have such a good meal after driving most of the day. Of course, we had stopped at about 8:30 a.m. for breakfast at a (what else?) Cracker Barrel for breakfast, to give the fog time to burn away in the mountains that we were driving through. As anyone who has traveled up I-75 knows, the fog is quite treacherous if you have to drive through it.

While at the Carriage House, we were given very excellent directions to get to the hospital by one of the waitresses. They were charmingly friendly and quite helpful to us.

We arrived at the hospital around 5 p.m. and I had a terrible time trying to find the regular hospital parking lot, and finally parked in the emergency room parking lot. Later, Wilma, one of Lois' daughters showed me how to get to the parking lot, and how to get out of it, and also told us where to find a motel that was close to the hospital, as well as right near the interstate. Yippee!

About 7:30, we left the hospital and headed for the motel. We are in the Super 8 motel and are very happy to be here. The trip has been difficult for Hugh and Gramps, but they are real troopers. (Wonder where that expression came from? What kind of troopers? Army? Boy Scouts? Who Knows?)

Dub is using his cane, and Hugh is using his walker. We are glad they have them to use. We will be here at least tonight and tomorrow night. Haven't decided yet about a third night. I guess it all depends upon how tomorrow goes. I am here for as long as Imazo needs to stay.

Lois looks very good for someone who has had a heart attack, and I know Imazo feared that she might not recognize Imazo, but she did and they had a really great time visiting. She also got to see three of her nieces (Lois' daughters) and we have intentions and hopes of getting to see all of them. They are lovely people, (of course) and I am enjoying getting to meet them.

Well, it is getting close to bed time and I think I am a little tired and will probably enjoy resting for awhile. We will be going to breakfast at Bob Evans (it is right next to the motel) about 8:30 in the morning. A little later we will head for the hospital to visit for awhile.

Unfortunately, Gramps does not really know where we are most of the time. I think this may well be the last trip we take. It is just getting too difficult for him (and me). He thought we were in Jefferson City here at the motel. I think his dementia is on a rapid increase.

Well, that is all for today. Thought for today: "Never give up without a fight for what you believe in".

This is Blabbin' Grammy signing off. More tomorrow. God bless each of you. Bye for now.

hi Gwammy,

i told Vern about Lois yesterday after reading your blog. Suggested he call Imazo for the skinny. He did, but they didn't share too much detail about her illness.
Please pass along our warmest regards to Lois...let her know we have her heavy in our thoughts and prayers.
You are such a gem for traveling so soon after your last big trip. At least 10 steps forward on the stairway to heaven for this one!
Love to all,
a
