Modeling - A New Career? Ha ha.

Hey, Y'all,
Well, of all the different hats I have worn in my lifetime, like mother, grandma, wife, daughter, sister, teacher, librarian, storyteller....you get the idea...I had never thought I would ever be a model for an ad, but I got my chance to be that very thing a few months ago.

My granddaughter, Emily, called me and asked if I would mind her taking some pictures of me for a flyer that she was doing for a retirement place up in Plano. I said, "Wow! You want to use me as a model? Sure, I would be happy to." My kids would say "Oh, yeah, Mom would love to be the center of attention, she does it so well." Ha.  To say I am not shy would be an understatement, and I don't mind admitting it. After all, they say 'the truth shall set you free', don't they?

So, she came over and took some photos and here is a copy of the flier that she produced to advertise some kind of tea for seniors. I neglected to mention that she is a graphics designer for some company in Arlington. She is very good, too. Emily is also an artist as well, with a degree in art and graphics. (and she is beautiful, to boot).

Oops, the server won't let me upload it, apparently there is some kind of copyright on the flyer, so, sorry.  But here is the picture she took to make the flyer. Not nearly as good as the cutout she did to make the advertisement. She used just my head and my hand holding the cup. (She deleted the fatty arms and body. Ha).

Anyhow, that is my venture into the world of advertising and modeling. I once thought I would love to be an actress. I think it would be great fun, but now I would have trouble remembering lines to say. I would probably do a lot of improv and substitute lines instead of using the scripted lines. Ha ha ha. I was in a couple of plays in high school and even had the lead part in a couple of them. They were Beta Club plays. Ah well, no fame and fortune here. I guess I will just go on with life as it comes.

It is very early in the morning and sometimes, when I wake up, it is easier to just get up, and stay up awhile, then go back to bed. You know, I tagged a few people the other day with some questions. One of them did the "meme" and answered the questions. If you want a good read, go to my blog of Saturday, and click on Susan's link to read her answers. Also, click on Cathy's link and read her answers.

Oh, heck, while you're at it, click on the other links and read their postings, and enjoy them even though they didn't have time to do the meme's. Isn't it wonderful at the variety of bloggers we have? I am going to try to follow all the threads of the meme and see how many different ways they are answered. Thanks again to Cathy for tagging me, and to Susan for answering. I am so grateful for all those who come to visit me and leave comments --also for those who come to visit me without leaving comments.

By the way, I had a great time with the seniors at the Cotton Patch Cafe for supper. I always do. What fun...eating and talking with my peers. I look forward to eating with them again on Monday week. (the 23rd).

My posting tomorrow will be early too, since I will be taking off like a big bird (in a big Eagle) for Knoxville tomorrow morning. Much love to each of you, my friends and family. This is Blabbin' Grammy signing off for today. Bye for now. More later.

What a wonderful picture. I love that purple hat. Are you familiar with the poem "When I Am Old I Will Wear Purple"? That was one of my mother's favorites, and I have a feeling you'd love it, too.

Enjoy TN!

Hi, Y'all,
Yeah, I have been familiar with that poem for a long time :) What with having a life-long love affair with poetry, and loving purple. I wish I were skinnier, but not enough to really do anything very constructive about it. At my age, there is not a lot of pleasure left in life other than enjoying other folks and eating. OOPS...too bad. Ha.
I am taking my camera with me so I can get some good pics. :)
Love,
Ruby

Ruby, I like your modeling picture. Sorry I haven't been around, but I had me a great cyber vacation. Glad to be back, though. I love to read your stories!

Hi Y'all,
Thanks for the kind words and well wishes. I am dressed, waiting for my ride, suitcase packed, movie ready for our "movie day" with my two sisters-in-law (actually more sisters than in-laws) on Friday, and just kind of ready to take off like a big bird. ha. I, too, am taking a cyber vacation....oh, my goodness, the withdrawal pains!!! I reckon I will survive though.
Love to all of you. Ruby
