My Cactus Didn't Know

Hey, Y'all,
Well, I know it has been another week and a couple of days since I last posted, but in my defense, I have been knee deep (well almost) in quilting again. I only lack a few rows having the four sections of Carol's quilt finished before I put them all together and then put binding around it. Here is a picture of my work area (in the living room) before I began cutting the cloth. I have three folding work tables put together for working on my quilts. Fortunately, I have a large living room. Ha.
Looks like a big mess, doesn't it?
Did you know that my Christmas cactus doesn't know that Christmas is already over? In fact, it didn't begin to bloom until after Christmas. Ha. Here is a picture of it taken the other day. Isn't it beautiful? Actually, I don't care when it chooses to bloom, I just appreciate the fact that it does and that it brings such beauty to my eyes. :)
A lot of stuff goes on here in this highly populated area where Dallas and Fort Worth are. I marvel each day as I watch the traffic flowing (or not flowing) through both cities on the news programs each morning and afternoon. Highway construction adds to the problems for motorists.

Weather here in Northeast Texas is not always the same two days in a row, at least in winter time. It fluctuates greatly from 28 to 70's. In a very short space of time. It does keep things interesting.

Oh, yeah, another interesting thing is the addition of a new pitcher from Japan to the Rangers' Baseball team. It seems they had to pay him $51 Mil just to talk to him about the possibility of joining the team and then another 60 million to become a member of the team and pitch for them. It seems that he is such a personality in Japan that the women there faint, in admiration, when they see him.

I went yesterday to see a podiatrist and have my toenails trimmed. Never a pleasant experience, but a necessary one. The last time I had them trimmed by a podiatrist was when Dubby and I were at the Assisted Living place in Morristown when I was recovering from my gall bladder surgeries two  and a half years ago. I had been doing my trimming by myself. Do you realize how difficult it is to reach the toes and trim them accurately as you reach my age? Of course, she had to treat my "Appalachian Foot disease" by prescribing two different medications. One, I have no idea what it will cost and it is painted onto the nails like nail polish to treat fungus. The other will be ready for me to pick up today, but will have to wait until tomorrow maybe. It had to be ordered and my insurance will pay $200 and I will fork over the other 95.  The third medication which is an exfoliant for my rough heels, is supplied by the dr's office for only thirty bucks. Ha. It would have been a lot less expensive to just get down in the floor again and trim them myself, huh?

I will be going to see my family doctor on Tuesday, and see what wonderful things she will have (or not have) to say to me. She is a really neat lady and I enjoy talking to her, and she seems to know her business.

Friday, I get to go and have my right eye done. My eye surgeon will be removing scar tissue that has formed from the cataract surgery and other Lasik surgery that has been done over the past eleven years. Hopefully, it will do as well as the left one has done.

I have been watching a couple of reality programs about mothers and their little girls. One is called Dance Moms, and the other is called Toddlers and Tiaras. I can't believe the values that these misguided mothers are cramming into the heads of these poor unsuspecting babies. They are so skewed!!! It is fascinating, and also horrible to think of the perpetuation of such ideas as one little four year old girl expressed, "when I do good, she loves me". Arrrgghh!

Well, folks that is about it for today. This is Blabbin' Grammy signing off for today. Much love to each of you, my friends and family. Bye for now. More later. (I'll try not to wait so long next time).
